Elizabeth Warren The Left Rises

With democrats">Democrats soon to be the minority party in congress">Congress, the fissures, cracks and discontents that have long-simmered within the party are becoming public. And who appears to be leading the charge? None other than Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren:

Sen. Elizabeth Warren may have built a reputation among progressives as a warrior of the middle class, but after yesterday’s Democratic rebellion on Capitol Hill, she’s no lone soldier. She’s got herself a whole army, and they are promising to wage war long after the GOP takes control of the full Congress next year.

But first, Warren turned her guns on her own party — targeting even her top ally, President Obama.

If anyone was caught by surprise by [the] leftist revolt against the government spending bill that included add-on to roll back some Wall Street financial protections and lift the cap on millionaires’ campaign spending, it was two prime targets of the attack: Obama and soon-to-be Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid. And while she and her soldiers may have lost the battle in last night’s late House vote, there is still plenty of fight in them for the battles ahead.

Clearly Reid and Obama, whom with GOP House Speaker John Boehner served as chief negotiators of the “compromise” bill aimed at keeping most the government funded through the next fiscal year, weren’t ready for the blowback from Warren, House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi and U.S. Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.).

Warren took to the Senate floor to berate republicans">Republicans and Democrats alike. “Who do you work for, Wall Street, or the American people?” Warren blasted.

We look forward to the civil war among Democrats, particularly as it appears some "progressives" are intent on taking that fight into the 2016 presidential primaries -- with Warren as their standard bearer.

Warren maintains she will not challenge Hillary Clinton for the nomination. We shall see.
