Red tape in a time of crisis
Even in the best of times, government bureaucracies are cumbersome and indifferent. Now that they are required to respond to rapidly changing circumstances, when the rules and red tape should be simplified and cut to meet pressing needs?
There have been some bright spots. But as John Stossel notes in the video nearby, the results in a crisis are often worse. And that's severely hampered out ability to respond to and contain the coronavirus.
