Today is an unusual anniversary: the Berlin Wall has been gone from the landscape for exactly the same amount of time (28 years) that it divided east and west Berlin. For those who are too young to recall when the West and the Soviet bloc stared at one another through razor wire and gun emplacements, the whole episode seems surreal.
Ronald Reagan was born 106 years ago today in Tampico, Illinois. Happy birthday, Mr. President. And thank you, for all you did on our nation's behalf. Nearby, is Mr. Reagan's farewell address to the nation, delivered from the Oval Office on January 11th, 1989.
Thursday marks the 30th anniversary of the Challenger Space Shuttle disaster. For those of us who remember it happening in real time, January 28, 1986 was a heartbreaking day, when we saw a disaster unfold before our eyes. And nothing -- nothing -- could erase the images from our hearts.
